I've got a massive music library (2000+ tracks) on a USB for my ’23 Toyota bz4x, but the system seems to choke on it. 500 tracks = all good, all can be displayed and played. 750 = only artists A-G and numbers show. 2000+ = just A-B and numbers! WTF? Is this a known issue? Any workarounds like folder structures or different USB formats? Driving me nuts!

That sounds really frustrating! It might be worth considering using your smartphone for music management, especially if you have a large library. The system could handle streaming or Bluetooth from your phone better than a USB with so many files. As for the USB, I’ve read that some systems have trouble with larger libraries, and organizing by folders, but the phone might be a more seamless option. Worth a shot

Yeah, you should try organizing your music into smaller folders or formatting the USB in FAT32, that might improve compatibility.

My son experienced an issue that we initially thought was a bug. When he contacted Subaru, they confirmed the limitation, advised him to format the files, and provided a reference file explaining the problem. I hope this helps!

Ugh, total bummer that it feels like a limitation. I’ll definitely try splitting things up into smaller folders and see if that does the trick. And yeah, the whole smartphone thing might be my backup plan if nothing else works. Appreciate the suggestions, I’ll give them a shot!
