USB-C charging problem with samsung phones

My Samsung phone isn't charging in my EU-spec Toyota. After 20 minutes, the battery % hardly changes, even if the USB-C connectors appear to detect the phone and begin charging. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a particular configuration or device that could resolve this?

Ok, so not all USB ports in cars are created equal when it comes to charging speed, some can be pretty slow, depending on the vehicle. If your device is charging at a snail’s pace, try switching to a different port; if available. You might find one that pumps out more power and gets your device juiced up faster!

I use external USB chargers plugged into the 12V socket. I feel it's a good way to protect the built-in USB ports and reserve them for file-related use.

First off, check that your USB-C cable is working. Try a different one, just to be sure. Also, inspect the car's USB port for possible blockage like accumulated dust. Any gunk in there could be causing trouble. Make sure your phone is properly seated in the cable too. Sometimes a loose connection can kill the charge. If none of that works, dive into your owner's manual or give your local Toyota dealership a call. They might have some magic tricks up their sleeve.

Unfortunately, most built-in car USB ports aren’t designed for fast charging, and Toyota’s seem to be especially slow. If you need real charging power, a good-quality 12V adapter with USB-C PD is your best bet. It’s annoying, but at least it’s an easy fix.

Most usb ports in cars aren't meant for fast charging. If you need faster charging, get a 12V USB adapter in the power outlet instead, it should give you much better charging speeds. Find one that has PD or Quick Charge spec.
