After six months of owning the car, the right rear plastic panels have deteriorated with peeling and flaking. The dealership raised the hypothesis it was solar conversion that caused the problem. However, I live on Cape Cod in a rural area with lots of trees and there have not been any super hot days yet. I believe it is a manufacturing defect or their supplier used inferior processes and parts. Either way, solar conversion has to be a low factor. I wonder how people in Phoenix will handle a melting car.

So far Toyota is not taking responsibility.

I will update this once I get more feedback on the problem and who is responsible.

My first time hearing this kind of issue. Will definitely follow this post.

Have you tried any new interior detailing products lately? Maybe something you used could be related.

Toyota, at any level within their organization, do not recognize any responsibility for the melting damage. We have all the warranty plans and still it is not covered. Next step s to see if our insurance company covers it.
