How safe are EV batteries?

Hey guys, I have a short and intriguing question. Do you think Toyota's batteries are safe? In fact, EV batteries in general, are they safe?

I don't know... I mean, I have seen some videos (with Tesla cars) that fired up because of the battery. I know Toyota that they took some measures to make the batteries the safest possible.
