Hey everyone. My car suddenly began displaying "Regenerative boost unavailable". I checked the manual, but it is essentially useless. When this message appears, it simply states that the regular brakes should be used and that the fancy stopping mechanism will not be effective. Is this a common issue?

My regen boost is also acting up! It seems like it never wants to cooperate, and when it does, it taps out after a few seconds. Hopefully, Toyota can work their magic and resolve this issue soon!

These safety features are not the end for EV owners whenever a glitch or faults like this show up. The brakes are the most important thing and regen braking is just an added safety feature to entice customers and make them feel safe whenever they're driving. However, if you want this feature to be active again you need to get it serviced by the dealership to get it back up and running.

Regen braking is a feature that can be activated if you want to make things easier and you want to add a bit more range. This gives the driver the option to use the lost power during braking and converting it into electricity to add about 10% more range to maximize the efficiency of the vehicle.

I dont find it an issue on my end. I use it every day, and it works flawlessly. The only drawback is that I have to manually activate it every time I start the car. Ideally, I'd like a driver setting that allows it to be enabled automatically. Fortunately, it recognizes when the battery is full and disables itself, which is a smart feature, well at least for me.

No issues on my end! The only time I experienced something similar was when I charged the battery to 100%. When that happens, the energy generated from regen braking has nowhere to go since the battery is full. As a result, regen gets temporarily deactivated until the battery needs more charge again. Hope this helps

I’ve seen this before, and it’s usually temporary! If the battery is full, the car can’t use regen braking, so it switches to regular braking instead. If it’s happening at random times, it might be worth resetting the system (turn the car off, wait a few minutes, then restart).

Yes, this is a common issue. The "Regenerative boost unavailable" message typically appears when the system needs a break or the battery is fully charged. It’s usually temporary, and everything should return to normal shortly.
